Sleeping through the night ... / Spime pres noc

Three nights in the row now the process was as follows:
Wesley gets nursed by me then bottled by daddy and then back to me for a little bit after which I will try to put that sleeping bundle to his crib mostly unsuccessfully so daddy picks him up and rocks him back to sleep and puts Wesley in his crib. Now it is somewhere between 9:30 and 10:30 pm and Chris and I will attempt to watch tv ...next thing I know it is morning somewhere between 6-7am and I can hear Wesley requesting my presence.


Tri noci za sebou jsme to ted delali takhle:
Nakojim, predam tatovi kterej dorazi Weslyho flaskou a pak preda zpatky me. Ja se pak pokusim spiciho Wesleyho ulozit, zatim neuspesne a tak predam tatovi ten ho uhoupe a polozi do postylky. To uz je ovsem nekde mezi 21:30-22:30 a Chris a ja se jeste pokusime koukat na neco na televizi ... z cehoz me probudi hladovej krikot nekdy mezi 6-7 ranni.

It is a challenge, he smiles a lot when he sees my face, which is hard to see behind the camera.
I have to start using the camera display. I got used to the camera viewer during the time my camera's display was broken.
I will keep on trying.

2 month visit at the doctors/ dvou mesicni visita u doktorky

We got three shots and it seems there will be some reaction to them.
One of his thighs is getting pretty swollen and has a bruise on it - the nurse was trying to be quick.
So some tylenol and cold compresses and they say it should be fine in 48 hours.
We initially planned for this weekend a trip to the DC with Kori and Travis but decided to wait another month or so for a happier baby.
Luke will have to wait for the museum with space rockets.
Now this decision makes even more sense.

As far as the numbers go ...
Wesley is growing exactly like Luke was .
Their measurements are nearly the same.
Luke weighed 12lbs 13oz  - Wesley weighs 12lbs 9oz
Luke measured 24in - Wesley measures 24in

Wesley has some persistent seborrhea
To my surprise the dr. said to use sanson blue for it weekly.
I guess he is not a newborn anymore so there are more options.

Tak jsme dostali tri vakciny a asi na ne budeme mit reakci. Zatim mu otejka ta nozicka do ktery mu dali dve z nich.
Davam mu na to studeny, detsky acetaminofeny a snad behem 48 hodin by to melo bejt v poradku.
Puvodne jsme planovali tenhle vikend stravit ve Washingtonu s kamaradama taky s batoletem ale s tezkym srdcem jsme si to rozmysleli asi pred tejdnem s tim ze pockame az z Wesleyho bude spokojenejsi miminko. Luke holt ten mesic pocka na muzeum s raketama. Ted jsme opravdu radi ze jsme se tak rozhodli.

Jinak vazi a meri pomalu stejne jako Luke jeho veku.
5.7 kg Luke mel o 4oz vic
61 cm - stejne jako Luke

Wesley ma tu detskou vyrazku na hlave a povolili nam na to pouzivat jeden sampon Sanson Blue.
Dost me to prekvapilo ale protoze uz to neni novorozene a tak mame vic moznosti.

It was snowing a bit and Luke was getting excited about snow. So we went to play and had fun with raking and jumping into leaves. Wesley slept through it :)

Happy after a midnight snack

Wesley

Wesley has been very cranky and it is getting progressively worse. Nothing soothes him. He cries, cries, cries, gets breast fed then bottle fed till the 1st burp and then he doesn't take the bottle anymore, takes a   20 minute catnap and  the cycle starts all over. Few times a day he will take a decent 3 hour nap. I've tried everything and the only soothing thing for him is breast feeding, but I am not a human pacifier. His baby rash is also not looking pretty and he has some white spots inside his mouth (thrush ???). So today I took him to see the doctor to hopefully find out it was something simple to fix. The white spots are not thrush but part of his baby rash and will go away. The doctor, herself a mother of a 2.5 year old, spent good 30 minutes with us in the office, most of it trying to calm him down. After eliminating everything else we left the doctor's office with a Colic diagnosis, book recommendation (The happiest baby on the block) and a sample of different formula. So it is official - everyone who warned us that the 2nd baby will be punishment for how easy we had it with Luke was right. It should peak now and start getting better in a couple of weeks leaving us with distant, dreamy, sleep deprived memory soon.

Particularly fitting quote from the book that was recommended to me today: "There are times when parenthood seems like nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you" Peter de Vries

Wesley je v posledni dobe strasne ubrecenej a furt se to zhorsuje a nic nepomaha. Furt place, nakrmim ho, prikrmim formuli - do prvniho krknuti - coz je nekde mezi 25-50 ml a pak uz si tu flasku neveme. Pak si nekdy schrupne asi 20 minut a zacne plakat - a jedem nanovo. Parkrat denne spi po trech hodinach. Jediny co ho uklidni je  krmeni ale ja nejsem chodici dudlik zejo. Jeho pupink taky nevypadaj dobre a ma i bily pupinky v pusince a  tak jsem se dneska rozhodla a vzala jsem ho k doktorce. Pupinky jsou normalni. Doktorka, sama matka 2,5 letyho kluka s nama stravila asi pul hodiny vetsinu casu se snazila uklidnit Wesleyho. Po vylouceni vsech ostatnich pricin jsme z ordinace odchazeli s diagnozou koliky,  doporucenim na knizku o kolice a vzorkem jinyho praskovyho mlika.  Praxe dava za pravdu tem vsem kteri nas varovali ze nase druhy potomce nas potresta za to jak hodny miminko byl Luke.

Footballer and Wesley's first bath

We walked to Trader Joes and stopped for kicks. Luke likes kicking the ball and is getting good at running with it.
Wesley's belly button stump finally fell off so we gave him a real bath - Luke couldn't wait and got in too!
Wesley enjoyed the warm water and there was no crying until it was time to get out and he was cold.

Second dr. visit

Dneska jsme vzali Wesleyho na jeho druhou navstevu u doktorky. Tady jsou miry: Wesley stale pribira a roste. Dneska vazil 4.1kg pribral 1/4 kg od minulyho ctvrtka a narost nam 2.5 cm do celkove delky 54.6 cm coz znamena ze spis udelali chybu kdyz se narodil protoze to je dost ale znamena to ze je v 90 procentech na delku. Jinak vse v poradku - dalsi navsteva ve veku 2 mesicu - a chudinka bude ockovanej.

So today was our second dr. visit and here are the stats: Wesley continues on gaining his weight (9lbs 1oz - gained 9 oz since last Thu = 75 percentile) and growing in lenghth (21.5" - grew 1" since birth - probably error in measurement when he was born = 90 percentile). Everything seems to be on track.  The next visit is when he will be 2 months old and poor Wesley will get some vaccinations then.

One week old

Wesley is one week old today and had his 1st visit at the doctor's.
He weighed at 8 lbs and 8 oz. Since we left the hospital on Saturday he gained 11 oz!
Sofar Luke has been an excellent brother. When I was too slow to come to Wesley when he was crying today Luke got up from his chair and went and put a pacifier into Wesley's mouth. Wesley stopped crying immediately and Luke was extremely pleased with himself :)) And so was I.

Wesleymu je dneska uz tejden a tak jsme sli na jeho prvni prohlidku u doktorky.
Navazil 8 liber a 8 ounci (3.85kg) coz znamena ze od chvile co jsme opustili nemocnici pribral 11 ounci (0.31 kg)!
Doposud Luke je perfektni braska. Dneska kdyz jsem nemohla dostatecne rychle k Wesleymu a Wesley plakal Luke se zvednul od stolu kde jed obed a sel mu dat dudlika do pusinky. Plakani okamzite ustalo a Luke byl na sebe strasne hrdej. Ja na nej taky.

Drop off went very smoothly - when the teacher came out to get Luke, she offered him his hand he first shyly hid behind mommy but then took the hand and with a skip and a hop followed her into the classroom.

Cherry Crest Farm

Today we drove about 50 minutes west to a farm near Strasburg . Karen with Samantha and Maureen with Dylan both came as well. It was a good day to do it - not too hot. Luke is still afraid of the trains. Whenever he heard it, and it was quite often, he ran to me and wanted to be held. It was a lot of fun, although their main attraction "the Amazing Corn Maize Maze" would have been really scary since the corn is now at its tallest and thick with leaves. Needless to say - we did not even attempt.
